Loving Learning explores the history and methods of progressive education which have been largely deserted by the American Education system. While this seems grim, Tom Little does explore what progressive schools are doing today and explains that those school could be used as a basis for rebuilding our methods of education.
“Loving Learning” explains that educators and schools need to put the students at the center of the school. By doing so, students will continue to love learning, instead of seeing it as an obligation or chore.
Progressive education follow a few simple principles: integrated learning and student centered learning. Students learn better if teachers know and use student personal interest. Many great books play lip service to these ideas, but Tom Little’s national tour of progressive schools are well represented with real world examples.
If you’re an educator, especially one who think that schools can do a better job, then this is a must read.
